Looking for a Santa costume?

Did you know that we have well over a hundred Santa costumes in stock – rental and purchase costumes both? We rent out Santas for most of the businesses in Greenville, SC that need them during the Holiday season, whether they’re grocery stores, non-profit organizations, churches, or businesses. We even have professional Santa suits, of course.

If you’re looking for one, come by our store and check them out! You’re welcome to try them on and see what you think. We’ve also got quite a selection of Santa wigs and beards in-store, ranging from around $25 up to about $80.

Our rental Santa costumes aren’t on our site, but we’d love to show them to you if you come by our store. There are three different types – Corduroy, Plush, and Velvet. Each one of these comes with the following: jacket, pants, hat, belt, boot covers, wig, and beard. Essentially, all you’ll need besides a person to wear the suit are gloves and glasses (if you’d like–we sell these in our store for only about $5.00 each). Prices are as follows: Corduroy ($55.00 per day), Plush ($65.00 per day), and Velvet ($75.00 per day)–and all rentals, as always, require a security deposit equal to the rental amount (if you’ve any questions about our rental policies, or how deposits work, click here to go to our FAQs).

So if you’ve any other questions, just email us or call us at 864-271-4260.

On a related note, those of you getting ready for RetroFest should definitely check out our shop! Our store contains sale costume and accessories as well as a fantastic selection of vintage and vintage-styled rental outfits. We carry everything from bell-bottoms and polyester pants to daishikis, pimp suits, leisure suits, and some great one-of-a-kind dresses. That’s right, our rentals are all unique–you won’t see someone at a party with the same outfit as you.

Aside from that, we’ve also got a huge selection of Retro/hippie sunglasses and shades–big, small, blue, clear, green, gold, sparkle; all sorts–and several different wigs that are just perfect for hippie costumes. We’ve got afros, long hippie wigs, bobs, and gogo-dancer wigs. We even carry men’s platform shoes and women’s go-go boots.  Come by the store and try some on!

Tips to beat the Halloween ‘traffic’ at Costume Curio

      1. Decide your costume early!  The earlier you visit us, the more options you’ll have to piece something together.
      2. Again, don’t wait until the last minute!  The parking lot can get a little packed in the evenings, especially during the two weeks prior to Halloween.
      3. Even if you don’t know exactly what you want, come with a few ideas in mind.  It’ll make the whole experience a lot smoother.
      4. If you are creating your costume from scratch and only need a few items, bring what you have with you.  Then we can work together to match colors and fabrics if need be.
      5. Be prepared to pay the cash deposit or rental fee in order to reserve your costume!  We cannot hold any items for longer than one day during Halloween.
      6. Allow plenty of time for your visit.  You never know how many other people will be in the shop at the same time.
      7. To avoid the crowds, visit us in the morning when it is usually slower and you’ll get more one on one time with an associate.
      8. A picture is worth a thousand words!  Pictures are always helpful if you are trying to achieve a specific look.

Need Alterations?

Our talented team of seamstresses can tackle any and every sewing job!  Seriously, they are like mechanical engineers but with sewing machines.  In addition to the alterations we do for our rental costumes, we also do bridal alterations and tailor your everyday clothes.  Just call for an appointment.

The secret of our success

We have an obsession with fabric (some might say unhealthy but we’re okay with that, everyone has their vices).  We have several hundred square feet in our warehouse dedicated to the most beautiful fabrics and trims you can imagine.  They display lovely textures and patterns.  Our designs would not seem as spectacular without the right fabric to bolster their ingenuity.

We have over twenty years of experience in costume design and construction.  For these reasons we are always the first choice of many theatres when they need costumes.  We do not discriminate between well-known theatres and more obscure ones.  We do not discriminate between large and small casts either.  We dedicate our attention to providing the best service we can no matter the size of the job.

You love your costume so much you want to own it?! Well it could be your lucky day!

Like we’ve previously mentioned, we built our rental stock with quality in mind.  On many occasions customers fall in love with their costume and want to buy it.  Lucky for you we offer that service as well!  Just ask an associate for a price.  We subtract any rental fee you’ve paid from the purchase price we quote.

This is a great option if you frequently attend Renaissance festivals!

Let’s talk quality and customer service

Quality and customer service are the foundations upon which we do business.   We operate under the assumption that if you’re going to bother dressing up then you want to look amazing doing it.  That being said, we use only the best fabrics and trims to create the amazing costumes you see on the rack.  It’s not uncommon for a client to purchase one of our costumes from the rental stock because the quality is that remarkable.  Dressing up is not only fun but it’s liberating.  Putting on one of the beautiful 18th century dresses with panniers and powdered wig transports the wearer to another time and place.  Our associates aim to foster an environment where that transition occurs.  We are trained to be knowledgeable, listen to the clients’ vision, and deliver the best possible costume for that person.  It is a little overwhelming when you walk into the shop for the first time but our associates offer one on one costume consultation to overcome that initial feeling.

All the world’s a stage!

It is our pride and joy to costume plays and operas.  It is our bread and butter so to speak.  Seeing the characters come to life wearing our designs causes a great sense of satisfaction for us at the shop.  That being said, yes, we do costume plays for theatres near and far.  Would your theatre like to avail of our services?  Fantastic!  Just give us a call.  We’ll have a chat and pull the show for your approval.  The considerable size of our rental stock allows us to costume all kinds of plays and musicals.  The King and I, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Christmas Carol, Annie Get Your Gun, and Peter Pan are just a few of the shows we have costumed in the past.  Visit our Shows and Costume Plots page to see more!

Whether your theatre is new or established, we would love the opportunity to work with you and help make your season a wild success!

The Easter Bunny Army

We have an army of Easter bunnies in our warehouse which are available for rental.  Businesses, companies, churches, and individuals may reserve a bunny for a one day rental during the Easter season (three day rental during the remainder of the year).  The Easter bunny comes with a mascot head, fur suit with pink tummy, fur shoe covers, and fur mittens.  If you wish to add a colorful vest we can do that too!  You will need to reserve a bunny well in advance; because, even though we have an army, eventually all of them do get rented out simultaneously.

To learn how to reserve a bunny, please visit our FAQ page.

Gloves, Glasses, and Boas, Oh my!

So you already have a costume, or at least something passable from your closet.  That’s great!  Don’t forget to jazz it up with accessories so it really transforms from a plain cocktail dress to a dynamite flapper.  We have all sorts of accessories including but not limited to gloves (long, short, colored, lace, satin, adult, children), glasses (funky, nerdy, 1950s-1980s, sci-fi), boas (every color of the rainbow), necklaces (hippie, pimp), bracelets (1960s mod), rings, headbands (flapper, hippie), hats (goofy, pirate, patriotic, top hats, fedoras), scarves, shoe buckles, neck-wear, suspenders, weapons (tommy guns, pistols, swords, nun chucks), fake cigarettes, shoes (go-go boots, platforms, character shoes, saddle oxfords).  We could honestly go on and on and on AND on about the accessories we keep in stock.  The best thing to do is visit us at the shop.  One of our associates can help you find what you are looking for no problem!
