There’s a lot coming up in the near future–from RetroFest to the start of Opera season. Be sure to check out our Events Page to stay up-to-date with what’s happening in the theatre community around Greenville.
On a related note, those of you getting ready for RetroFest should definitely check out our shop! Our online store contains mostly sale costume and accessories, but our physical location has a fantastic selection of vintage and vintage-styled rental outfits. We carry everything from bell-bottoms and polyester pants to daishikis, pimp suits, leisure suits, and some great one-of-a-kind dresses. That’s right, our rentals are all unique–you won’t see someone at a party with the same outfit as you.
Definitely check out our selection online, though: we’ve got some retro costumes here, as well some choices of men’s platforms and women’s go-go boots.
Aside from that, we’ve also got a huge selection of Retro/hippie sunglasses and shades–big, small, blue, clear, green, gold, sparkle; all sorts–and several different wigs that are just perfect for hippie costumes. We’ve got afros, long hippie wigs, bobs, and gogo-dancer wigs. Come by the store and try some on!
Did you know that we have well over a hundred Santa costumes in stock–rental and purchase costumes both? We rent Santas out for most of the businesses in Greenville that need them during the Holiday season, whether they’re grocery stores, non-profit organizations, churches, or businesses. We even have professional Santa suits, of course.
If you’re looking for one, come by our store and check them out! You’re welcome to try them on and see what you think. Actually, you can see several of our purchase Santas here. We’ve also got quite a selection of Santa wigs and beards in-store, ranging from around $25 up to about $80.
Our rental Santa costumes aren’t on our site, but we’d love to show them to you if you come by our store. There are three different types–Corduroy, Plush, and Velvet. Each one of these comes with the following: jacket, pants, hat, belt, boot covers, wig, and beard. Essentially, all you’ll need besides a person to wear the suit are gloves and glasses (if you’d like–we sell these in our store for only about $5.00 each). Prices are as follows: Corduroy ($55.00 per day), Plush ($65.00 per day), and Velvet ($75.00 per day)–and all rentals, as always, require a cash or check security deposit equal to the rental amount (if you’ve any questions about our rental policies, or how deposits work, click here to go to our FAQs).
So if you’ve any other questions, just email us or call us at 864-271-4260.

That’s right, in case you didn’t know, we’re open year-round. We’re always here (with the exception of Sundays and various holidays), so whenever you need that Teddy Roosevelt costume for your kid’s presentation, or that cute flapper for a Twenties-themed party, we’ve got them. Keep in mind our huge selection of period costumes as well–we’ve got the perfect outfits for any sort of Dickens play, as well as Christmas carolers. Not just the outfits, mind you, but also the top hats, fingerless gloves, muffs, and ear-warmers. In fact, we’ve got the perfect selection for some glorious steampunk outfits as well…
…Anyway, feel free to come by and try some things on, whether you want to be a Victorian gentleman or a mad scientist! Thanks again for reading!
There are two exciting events coming up soon–other than Halloween, of course–so add these to your calendars: Masquerade on Main is on Friday, October 23; and the Twilight Ball, celebrating New Moon, is Friday, November 13th. Some quick info on each…
Masquerade on Main benefits the Pendleton Place Children’s Shelter, and takes place downtown at Zen on 924 Main Street, in the West End of downtown Greenville. The entire event is black-tie formal, and a masquerade. There will be an open executive and designer bar, and food, desert, and entertainment are included in your ticket.
The Twilight Ball will also be held at Zen on 924 Main Street. Proceeds from the Twilight Ball will benefit the Pendleton Place Children’s Shelter Library. The event will include music, entertainment, dancing, a laser-light show, prizes, giveaways, and, of course, birthday cake. Either a costume or semi-formal attire is required for admittance.
For both of these events, we’ve got a great selection of costumes and accessories to help you show up and look the best. We’ve got several beautiful masquerade masks, as well as gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, handmade 18th Century dresses. Not only do we carry them–we custom-tailor them just for you, at no extra charge. And if you’re going to the Twilight Ball–we’ve got you covered, whether you want fangs, blood, makeup, capes, dresses, suits, or tuxes. We’ve even got glitter, if you’re into that sort of thing. Lots of glitter.
Anyway, we hope this info will help everyone to prepare for these events…check back soon, as we’ll be uploading some pictures of our gorgeous masquerade masks shortly…

Halloween’s only 20 days away. If you don’t have a costume yet, you might want to start thinking about it–yesterday! We’ve still got a huge selection of costumes left, but they’re going to start disappearing soon…
We’ve still got a great selection of fangs (everything from long shredders to short, cute, “sexy bites”), both professional and affordable makeup (anything you can imagine really, to make almost anything you could ever imagine), as well as tons of costumes (period wear, sexy party costumes, masquerade dresses and masks, and even couples costumes and ideas).
And if you’re worried about whether or not we’ll have something for that totally obscure character from some film that only showed twice three decades ago, don’t be! Just bring in a picture of what you’re looking for, and we’ll do our best to match it as closely as possible.
Because of how busy we are right now, we probably won’t be adding much stock to our online store until Halloween passes–look for a great deal of new items to be added in November, however. For now, feel free to call us (at 864-271-4269) or email us at costumecurio@bellsouth.net anytime! Just ask us if you’re looking for a particular costume–any costume–and we’ll reply as quickly as we can with whatever information you need, from sizes to colors to prices.
…but they were slight (though designed to be as helpful as possible). We’re still adding more stock to the site–if you look to the left, you’ll see a “Sale Costumes” category and a “Rental Costumes” category. We’re trying to make it easier to browse our stock, though you’ll find that our rental costumes are not available (for purchase) on the site, since they’re rentals. What we have posted, however, is a set of thumbnails that serve as a quick summary of some of our period clothing. We’ve many times this amount in stock–but we can’t possibly put the thousands of custom-built, hand-made, and completely unique and one-of-a-kind costumes onto the site (well, not yet). It’s simply too many items to take photos of all of them. But this is meant to give you an idea of what we actually carry, and what we can make.
Speaking of, our parade and mascot costumes are starting to appear on the site as well! We’re adding them one at a time–each of these is unique, and comes with an appropriate fur suit, gloves, and shoe covers. If you’d like to rent one of these, they are reserved by placing a cash deposit (during October) equal to the rental amount. We take check deposits, but only if it’s not October. During October, the rental period for parade and mascot costumes is one day–the rest of the year, they rent by three days.
If you’ve any questions at all concerning any aspect of our sale or rental costumes, or even questions or comments about this site, don’t hesitate to call us at 864-271-4260 or email us. You can also subscribe here to receive automatically receive updates of our site and stock.
We’ll be open later in October, to meet the increased demand for costumes. Our extended hours start on Saturday, October 3rd. You can view our extended hours below, as an image (.jpg) by clicking on the thumbnail below, an .ics calendar file, or a Google Calendar.
We’ll also provide a calendar download Halloween Hours – Costume Curio as an .ics file. If you’d like to subscribe with any other platform, the link for our shared Google Calendar is here.
…and there are just so many in our store! You may have noticed the links on the left side of this page–yes, they are shortcuts to our men’s, women’s, and children’s costumes. Don’t be disheartened by our small online selection of kid’s costumes; we’re adding them into our database now. Soon there will be many more–the same goes for accessories, as well as wigs. Please bear with us while we’re adding stock (we’ve got thousands of items). We’re currently getting in several things–like Michael Jackson costumes, several different wigs, and more costume shoes (including go-go and lace-up boots, among other things).
If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just call us at 864-271-4260 and ask! We most likely have what you need, and if we don’t, we’ll do our best to direct you to where you can find it. We’re more than happy to answer any questions during our business hours, and if we’re closed when you have a question, just email us at costumecurio@gmail.com anytime and we’ll get a response your way as soon as we can!
Thanks again for reading, and remember to subscribe here to stay in-the-know about the shop!
The shop’s back open again, after a long weekend of Dragon*Con and Labor Day. Our regular hours have resumed–they’re on the left side of every page. So…come on by and get your Halloween costume!
For those of you who are counting, Dragon*Con’s only two days away (except for those lucky few of you that are heading down Thursday night). Well, we’ve got plenty of costumes here for D*C–for example, Harry Potter costumes and accessories (like robes, ties, wands, glasses, scarves, and other items–even Dumbledore’s hat, hair, and beard or McGonagall’s hat), or Star Trek costumes and uniforms (original or new), several items in the style of Tolkien’s universe, a full selection of theatrical makeup, stage blood, all sorts of wigs, black or white feather wings, demon horns, pirate outfits (including boots and hats), as well as several other costumes and accessories that are perfect for Dragon*Con. We also have parade costumes and furries!
The majority of these items aren’t on the site yet (except for the makeup), but feel free to come by and check out what we’ve got in-store. Hopefully we can help you with picking out something fun, interesting, and unique–and save you from going to D*C without anything to wear!
