Costume Curio, Inc.
The Southeast's Premiere Costumer.

We’re going to be closed this weekend, from Saturday, September 5th through Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day–we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Our regular hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8th.

But, in more exciting news, we’re still adding more items to the site. So far, we’ve got about 400 more costumes and accessories that are only in need of pictures–as soon as we’ve got those uploaded, we’ll add a feature where you can navigate by adult (men’s or women’s costumes) and child (boys’ or girls’ costumes).

We’d also like to thank our readers for the over-6000 views this past month! Remember to check back for new information–or to make it even easier, just click here to subscribe to our site for on-demand updates and new information.

As always, we’ll keep you updated–thanks again for reading!

This should be the last post for today, but it’s worth posting…when you search, the results now automatically sort themselves into 16 products per page, in a 4×4 grid. Not only do they do that, but they’ve also got thumbnails displaying preview images of the products (with the exception of the makeup items that don’t have a picture yet). If you want to see more products, just look at the bottom of the page and click First, Previous, Next, or Last to see the respective pages. This new organization will make it much easier for everyone to see what we’ve actually got in stock.

For a sample, click here to see how we’ve redesigned it–now you can browse images and costumes, like the hippie costumes above or the pirate costumes here–or even just click on their respective pictures!

This will help you if you don’t know what you want to be for Halloween or other parties–just type in “nurse” or “pirate” or whatever you have in mind, like “sexy,” for instance, and we’ll show you what we’ve got that’ll work. Now you can just browse through pictures and see if anything sticks out at you.

Naturally, all of this is being done to make everything easier and more intuitive for you. We’ll keep you updated on everything else going on around the shop and the site–thanks again for reading, and remember, if you’d like to subscribe (and automatically receive updates on our store) go here or just click on “Entries RSS” just below “Subscribe” (to the top right of this page). That’ll keep you in the loop as to when new shipments come in, when we add new inventory, and when the site has new features!

We’ve got most of the Leg Avenue up…

leg_avenue_-_black_widow_witch

That’s right, most of the Leg Avenue costumes are up on the site. These costumes are perfect for Halloween–or even all sorts of themed parties. You can check them out here or just search for them on the left. We’re currently adding more keywords for all of our costumes–and we’re still trying to add as much stock to the site as we can. We’ll keep you updated on how things are going; thanks again for reading!

We really want your opinion on this…

We’ve now developed three different search engines–and we’ve currently got a new one to test out. Essentially, you can now type manufacturers, sizes, costume names, or whatever, and the search engine automatically sorts out the optimal results for your query. This actually supports up to ten words in sequence, though if anyone expresses a need we can make it support much more.

Also, we’ll open up the page for comments so if you’ve any suggestions, you can post there or you can just email them to us at costumecurio@gmail.com.

In the next few days we’ll be integrating all three of the search engines into one–that way when you search, just like always, you’ll be directed to the results page; but once you’re there, you’ll see even more relevant results. Specifically, the top results will be exact (or very near) what you were looking for (if we have it in the database yet), immediately followed by related results you might also be interested in. All of this development is to make everything on this site more accessible for our customers–so we want to know if it is indeed helping you!

If things don’t seem to work right, or not in the way you expect, or if you just want to tell us how you’d like things to work, please do!

Thanks for reading, and as always, we’ll keep you updated on all news.

More features coming soon!

leg_avenue_-_head_nurse

We’re currently working on our search functions in the site–soon, you’ll be able to search with multiple keywords–up to ten, just separated by spaces. That way, when you search “sexy nurse” you won’t just get a costume called “sexy nurse”; as soon as we’re done implementing this new feature, you’ll get all costumes that are sexy, all costumes of nurses, or (if you choose) all costumes that are both sexy and nurses.
This feature should be on the site within the next few days, but we’ll post here as soon as it has been integrated. As always, thanks for your patience, and thanks for reading!

No tags

leg_avenue_-_raspberry_girl

That’s right–our Leg Avenue costumes are starting to appear in your searches. We’re uploading them as soon as we tag and organize the stock photos from Leg Avenue. These costumes are absolutely fantastic for Halloween and other themed parties, so if you like to get your costume picked out early, this is the place and the time to do it.

You can just click on this picture of Leg Avenue’s “Raspberry Girl”–or if you want to see our growing Leg Avenue selection, just type “Leg Avenue” (capitalization doesn’t matter) into the search to your left or select “Leg Avenue” from the manufacturers drop-down menu. After you click “Search” the results will be displayed.

If you’ve got any questions at all, just let us know. We’ll keep everyone updated as to new developments on the site–thanks again for reading!

…and now it’s fixed!

That’s right, the most elusive “Add to Cart” button has been resurrected from internet purgatory. You’ll find that everything is back to normal, and no matter what operating system or browser you’re using, it should work.
Also, look out for our Leg Avenue inventory to show up in the online store soon–we’ve just gotten the pictures in, and all we’ve got to do now is sort them out and upload them to our server. Essentially, most of our Leg Avenue costumes will be online within the next few days. Those will be followed by Disguise, Eddie’s, and Rasta Imposta shortly.
As always, thanks for reading!

We’re working on it.

There’s a problem with Internet Explorer rendering our “Add to Cart” button–we don’t know why this started, but our first record of it happening was yesterday morning (Wednesday the 12th). As far as we can tell, there is a known bug in Internet Explorer in which “button” commands are not displayed when inside of a table. We’re sorting this out as quickly as we can, and we’ll let you know when it’s been taken care of. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we’ll try to cater to this idiosyncrasy as fast as we can.

There we go!

Alright! Sorry about the delay, but now the databases are back up to normal functions–we sure hope you find all of the pages up and running faster than they were before. The store is fully functional, and all we are waiting on to add even more inventory is stock photography from our manufacturers. We’ll be adding Pleaser and Demonia shoes, which will be followed shortly by our Leg Avenue backstock. The information is already in our database, and we’ll be adding the pictures soon and these products will be available for purchase as well.

We’ll keep you up-to-date as always; thanks again for reading!

Please bear with us for a day…

We’ve just switched hosting companies, but we’ve got to sort out a kink or two–so you’ll find that the search, results, browse, and info pages are temporarily down. We’ll have this taken care of tomorrow afternoon, as all of the DNS changes take effect. Thanks for being patient, and we’ll keep you updated as to how things are unfolding!

Our site is now proudly powered by Laughing Squid, and all of the problems we’ve been having with our old hosting company have been not only resolved, but completely removed. You’ll probably notice that the site will be faster, and it will be able to handle more traffic much more easily. Their use of modern MySQL installations and up-to-date PHP also lets us add more features to our online store than we ever could before. In short, all of these improvements will serve to make your experience on our site more enjoyable and intuitive.

Thanks again for reading, and happy Sunday!
